LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK ‘’WHISPERS OF THE WOLD’’
Lake Mburo National Park, located in western Uganda in Kiruhura district. Gazetted in 1983, it is a stunning protected area renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including the tranquil Lake Mburo, extensive wetlands, and mixed savannas. How to get there
Lake Mburo National Park is located in western Uganda, approximately 230 kilometres west of Kampala. To get there, take the Kampala-Mbarara highway or Kampala–Masaka – Lyantonde – Kiruhura, a journey of around 3-4 hours by car. Alternatively, charter flights are available from Entebbe or Kajjansi airstrip to Mbarara airstrip, from there you will be picked up to the park.
When to visit the park
The best time to visit Lake Mburo National Park is during the dry season, from June to August and December to February, when clear skies, minimal vegetation, and comfortable temperatures make wildlife spotting ideal. The wet season, from March to May and September to November, is better suited for birdwatching; however, the park is visited throughout the year.
